There are still attempts by the “small oligarchs” to influence the people’s representatives, but they are being prevented, Arahamia assured.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine eliminated such a phenomenon as people’s representatives receiving salaries in envelopes. This was announced on Friday, September 16, by the leader of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, David Arahamia, in an interview with Forbes.
He noted that the war in Russia seriously reduced the income of people’s representatives, because big business left the Verkhovna Rada and only “small oligarchs” tried to influence politicians.
“The price tag of the representative dropped significantly and, let’s say, the “small oligarch” tried to influence some representatives. Such a story is relatively recent, I will not name the businessman, but everything has ended bad for him and the desire to influence someone, to pay someone, I think, disappeared for a long time,” explained Arahamia.
“I hope he will recount this experience to other businessmen who have decided to interfere in the political process,” added the leader of the parliamentary group.
It was previously reported that in early March, the wife of a representative of the people of Ukraine transferred $500,000 and 97,000 euros at the customs border of Ukraine. According to the official rate of the National Bank, it is more than 17.8 million hryvnias.
Recall that before his death, MP Anton Polyakov said that representatives from the Servant of the People group received money in envelopes for the adoption of the law on the oligarchs.
