Zelenskiy said he passed such a proposal to the UN, which offered to continue supplies of Russian ammonia through Ukraine.
On Friday, August 16, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he would allow the export of Russian ammonia through Ukraine only in exchange for the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war. He said this in an interview with Reuters.
Zelenskiy said he forwarded such a proposal to the UN, which offered to resume Russia’s ammonia supplies through Ukraine amid a global shortage of the fertilizer.
“I am against the supply of ammonia from the Russian Federation through our territory and will do it only in exchange for our prisoners. That is what I proposed to the UN,” Zelensky said.
Recall that the UN is negotiating with Ukraine and Russia on the continuation of the operation of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline for the export of Russian ammonia.
