The head of the German government drew attention to the fact that the President of the Russian Federation considers the invasion of Ukraine the right thing to do.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz sees no change in position regarding Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine from Russian President Vladimir Putin after talks with him. The Kremlin leader still considers the war in Ukraine the right thing to do and has no plans to end it. The head of the German government said this in a press conference, according to Die Welt.
“Unfortunately, I cannot tell you that there is a growing awareness that it was a mistake to start this war. There are also no signs that new views are emerging there,” he said.
At the same time, the German chancellor is convinced that it is necessary to talk more with Putin and explain his own point of view on things to him.
“Because I firmly believe that Russia must retreat, must withdraw its troops, so that peace in the region has a chance. And every day I understand that this is the only prospect,” Scholz summed up.
Remember, on September 13, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin by telephone.
In addition, according to Scholz, Germany is helping Ukraine with enough weapons, and the decision to transfer this or that equipment was made in consultation with the allies.
