The first two fighters will be used as training machines for Hellenic Air Force pilots.
The Hellenic Air Force has received the first two upgraded F-16 Viper fighters out of 83 ordered from the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (EAV). This was reported by Ekathimerini.
It was mentioned that the first two Vipers will be used as training machines for Greek Air Force pilots. EAV ramps up production to deliver at least six aircraft by the end of the year.
The F-16V or Viper is the latest variant of Lockheed Martin’s fourth generation F-16 Fighting Falcon. The Viper has enhanced capabilities as part of an upgrade package for better interoperability with fifth-generation fighters, including the F-35 and F-22.
It was previously reported that Greece will buy F-35 fighter jets from the United States.
