The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense admitted that he underestimated the intentions of the Russian president.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov admitted that he was mistaken, believing that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not give the order to launch missile strikes on Ukrainian cities. The official said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, published on September 10.
“I was wrong, because I did not believe that they were “slapped” in that “Orkostan”, that they would be angry and upset the Ukrainians, especially the Russian-speaking part of the population in the East of Ukraine – Kharkiv region , Volnovakha, Mariupol, – they will not greet them with flowers, but fight. “- said the minister.
According to him, the Russian Federation was so angry at the fact of its rejection by the Ukrainians that it decided to take revenge on Kharkov: to destroy it with Grads, Tornadoes.
It can be recalled that Reznikov also warned that it was too early for Ukraine to celebrate victory. It needs to defend the vast territory it has regained in recent days from a possible Russian counter-offensive.
It should be noted that in the Kharkiv region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already liberated 40 settlements.
In addition, the invaders de-energized the thermal power plant in Kharkov, as a result of which residents of many eastern regions were left without electricity.
