Ukraine’s NATO Secretary General assured continued support, despite the economic pressure caused by Russia’s aggression.
The war in Ukraine is entering a critical stage. Ukrainian forces managed to stop the Russian offensive in Donbas, recover and regain control of the territory. This is what NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in a press conference with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Brussels.
“Over the past few days, we have seen significant progress in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions,” he said.
Mutual unity and solidarity will come under pressure in the coming months because of energy supplies and the rising cost of living caused by Russia’s war, Stoltenberg said.
“But the price we pay is measured in money. Whereas the price Ukraine pays is measured in lives,” added the Secretary.
He emphasized NATO’s readiness to defend its territory from Moscow’s aggression and assured Ukraine of continued support.
Notably, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Russian President Vladimir Putin “lost every bet he made” on the war in Ukraine.
It was also reported that the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, praised the achievements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and noted that these achievements will be a serious blow to the Russian Federation.
