The official name of the new British king will be Charles III, full name – Charles Philip Arthur George.
The eldest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II, 73-year-old Prince Charles, has become the new king of Great Britain. In his first statement the new monarch called his mother’s death “a moment of greatest sorrow for himself and all members of the family.”
“We are deeply saddened by the death of a beloved sovereign and much-loved mother. I know her death will be felt deeply throughout the nation, territories and Commonwealth, as well as by countless people around the world,” he says.
Charles does indeed become king, however, he must be officially proclaimed as such in a separate ceremony to be held later.
His wife, 74-year-old Camilla, will receive the title of queen consort. This meant that the king’s wife had the same social status and had the feminine equivalent of his monarchical title.
The official name of the new British king will be Charles III, full name – Charles Philip Arthur George. Prime Minister Liz Truss has already addressed the nation and named King Charles III.
“We are overwhelmed by the news we have received. The Queen’s death is a terrible shock for the UK and the world,” the British prime minister said.
According to him, Elizabeth II is the rock on which modern Britain is built. He also called on the British people to come together to help the new king.
“God save the king,” he ended his speech with these words.
As reported, 96-year-old Queen Elizabeth II died this afternoon surrounded by family at the beloved Scottish castle of Balmoral. The flag was flown at half-mast at Buckingham Palace, and a statement announcing the death of Elizabeth II was posted on the gates of Buckingham Palace.
