In Lithuania, they say that Belarusian officials contribute to the damage of the barrier and the penetration of illegal migrants into the country.
Lithuania has accused Belarus of deliberately destroying the border fence between the countries. In this regard, a representative of the Belarusian embassy was summoned to the Foreign Ministry. This was announced on Tuesday, September 6, by the press service of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.
“He was handed a note expressing a strong protest in connection with repeated cases of intentional damage to a physical barrier on the border of the Lithuanian state,” the statement said.
Lithuania noted that Vilnius considers such actions as a provocation and a serious violation of the agreement on the legal regime of the Lithuanian-Belarusian state border.
The Foreign Ministry requested that Belarus take all necessary measures as soon as possible so that such incidents do not recur in the future.
At the end of August, Lithuania completed the construction of a physical barrier on the border with Belarus. A fence and barbed wire appeared on sections of the border with a length of about 550 kilometers. Previously, Poland also built a fence. In the summer and fall of 2021, these countries suffered from a migration crisis artificially created by the Minsk regime.
