The counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces continues not only in the Kherson region, and all occupied territories will be returned, the head of state stressed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting a counter-offensive in different directions, but did not specify the details of the operations so that the Russians receive a “surprise”. The Ukrainian leader spoke about this in an exclusive interview with the host of the World News Tonight program on the ABC channel, David Muir.
“Ukrainians need to get rid of the territory step by step. This is a difficult task, and it depends not only on us, but I am sure that it will be so. It is only a matter of time,” said Zelensky .
Muir asked why the Ukrainian military decided to launch a counter-offensive in the Kherson region at this time.
“I will not say that this is only a counteroffensive in the Kherson region… There is a direction or a direction – in the plural – and we must move forward,” the president insisted.
When asked to clarify the information, the head of state replied that “he cannot discuss the details of any military action.”
“I want the opponent to get some surprises from us,” he said.
Zelensky also confirmed to Muir that the issue of surrendering any Ukrainian territory to the enemy was not discussed.
Earlier, the adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, Mykhailo Podolyak, called on residents of Crimea and other temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to prepare for de-occupation.
