The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has imposed sanctions against a number of American politicians, businessmen and cultural figures. It was reported on the department’s website on Monday, September 5.
25 US citizens have been added to the sanctions list. Among them are Commerce Minister Gina Raimondo, her four deputies, several senators, the founder and chairman of the Central Asia and Caucasus Institute, Stephen Starr, and two actors and producers, Sean Penn and Ben Stiller.
“The hostile actions of the American authorities, which continue to follow a Russophobic course, damaging bilateral relations and worsening confrontation between Russia and the United States, will continue to receive a decisive rejection,” said of Lavrov’s office.
In total, 1,073 people are on the sanctions list of US citizens banned from entering Russia.
As you know, today the EU is discussing the eighth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation in response to the war against Ukraine. The Baltic States propose to include new restrictions on the SWIFT system, trade and energy restrictions, as well as the expansion of personal sanctions.
