The said move was made to free Ukrainian double taxation refugees who work remotely.
Polish authorities have abolished the income tax applied to Ukrainian refugees who worked remotely, according to money.pl.
It was noted that citizens of Ukraine who entered the territory of Poland after February 24 and worked remotely must file a declaration and pay income tax – PIT (Personal Income Tax) on September 20. It is mandatory for everyone who have been in the country for a long time and have an income, regardless of citizenship.
According to the law, refugees who arrived in February must pay taxes themselves in September if they work far away.
After 183 days in Poland, such refugees will become residents and pay taxes, but this criterion for citizens of Ukraine has been canceled. The change applies only to Ukrainians covered by special legislation, that is, they are “refugees from the war.”
It was previously reported that the government of Ukraine has developed proposals for EU countries to simplify the life of refugees abroad. Among them – how to avoid double taxation.
