The house-museum “should not be touched”, and the Union of Writers “will do something” apart from this issue, believes Alexander Tkachenko.
The Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko opposed the initiative to close the museum of writer Mikhail Bulgakov in Kyiv. The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture stated this at a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center on Friday, September 2.
So, the official commented on the relevant initiative of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine.
“I don’t know what prevented the Union of Writers from the Bulgakov Museum in Kyiv. Bulgakov was a resident of Kiev. Yes, in some of his literary works, I emphasize, he has replicas of some heroes about in the struggle for the liberation of Ukraine in the early twentieth century. But I think the museum is here certainly not to blame. Neither the museum nor the monument. I think the Union will do something, something to solve the problem of the Bulgakov Museum,” the minister expressed his opinion.
He added that his position on this issue is clear: “you should not touch the Bulgakov Museum.”
It will be remembered that the National Union of Writers of Ukraine advocated the closing of the museum of the Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov in Kyiv and instead the opening of the museum of the Ukrainian composer Alexander Koshyts.
The Literary and Memorial Museum of Bulgakov in Kyiv was recognized by the Forum of Literary Museums, which took place in Moscow in 2013, as one of the twenty best literary museums in the world.
