The ZNPP-330 kV backup power line for auxiliary needs was also damaged. In transitional mode, there was a blackout of idle power unit No. 2 in the launch of diesel generators.
At the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, emergency protection worked, after which the 5th power unit was turned off. Energoatom reported this on Thursday, September 1.
It is indicated that on the eve of the visit of the IAEA mission, the Russian aggressors made new provocations at the ZNPP.
“Today at 4:57 am, as a result of another mortar attack by the Russian occupying forces on the Zaporizhzhya NPP site, the emergency protection went off, and the 5th power unit was turned off,” the report said.
In addition, the ZNPP-330 kV backup power line for auxiliary needs was damaged. In transitional mode, there was a blackout of idle power unit No. 2 in the launch of diesel generators.
Energoatom recalled that this is the second time in the last 10 days that the criminal actions of racists led to the shutdown of the unit and de-energization of the station.
“The power unit No. 6 continues to work in the energy system of Ukraine and at the same time feeds its own needs to the ZNPP. The Ukrainian staff of the station is doing everything possible to eliminate damage to its infrastructure,” the company added.
It will be recalled that on August 31, an IAEA mission left Kyiv for Energodar to assess the situation at the occupied ZNPP.
And now it is known that the Russians are planning a pre-agreed route for the IAEA mission from Zaporozhye to ZNPP.
