Relations between Russia and the European Union depend on the development of the situation in Ukraine, the Romanian Foreign Ministry said.
Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu said the European Union should end any reliance on Russia. He said this before the meeting of EU foreign ministers on Tuesday, August 30.
According to him, the relationship between Russia and the European Union depends on the development of the situation in Ukraine. At the same time, Bucharest supports the suspension of the simplified visa regime and is open to restrictions on the issuance of tourist visas.
“We cannot return to our usual relations with Russia. It is too early to assess the future of relations between the EU and Russia, as it depends on the development of events in Ukraine. But one thing is clear: we must end any hope in Russia,” Aurescu said.
It can be remembered that at a meeting of EU ministers, Germany and France opposed the visa ban for all Russians, Austria supported them.
At the same time, Germany announced today that they have suspended the simplified visa regime in the Russian Federation.
