The Thai military has implemented a four-step procedure for responding to drone encounters.
Taiwan’s military opened fire after Chinese drones attacked a small island in the frontline district of Kinmen. Local publication Focus Taiwan reported this on Tuesday, August 30.
Soldiers stationed at the Shi Island outpost discovered an unmanned aerial vehicle flying in a restricted area about 200 meters away from the outpost at a height of 30 meters, according to the Kinmen Army Defense Command.
The soldiers fired warning flares first. The command described its four-step procedure for responding to drone encounters.
This is the first time the army has said it fired at a Chinese drone.
China has previously released a series of videos taken by civilian drones showing them flying near and filming military observation posts.
The Ministry of National Defense said that to deal with the growing threat of drones in the long term, work will begin on a defense system against drones. It will be installed next year in two coastal districts of Taiwan, located near the coast of China – Kinmen and Lianjiang.
It can be remembered that the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan worsened the relationship between Beijing and Washington. In response, the PRC army conducted a series of military exercises in the Taiwan Strait.
Less than two weeks after the sensational journey, a delegation from the US Congress arrived on the island. The State Department said congressmen have been visiting Taiwan for decades and that it does not conflict with the “one China principle.”
