Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that around 15% of the country’s population – 33 million people – have been affected due to heavy floods in the country.
As a result of massive floods in Pakistan over the past day, 119 people have died. The total death toll since the start of the rainy season has exceeded a thousand. The BBC reported it.
The floods that began in June have already killed 1,033 people, according to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority. However, the number of victims of a natural disaster may be higher, because many people are considered missing.
According to Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, about 15% of the population – 33 million people – have been affected by the heavy floods in the country.
He also mentioned that each flood-affected family will receive 25,000 rupees ($112) in aid from the government.
It was earlier reported that due to the floods in Pakistan, around 50,000 people were displaced.
It will be recalled that floods and landslides have claimed the lives of at least 50 people in India.
