The Russian authorities have already achieved the exclusion from the mission to the Zaporizhzhya NPP of experts from the US and the UK.
Russia has begun to implement Iran’s strategies to manipulate and possibly delay the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) for August 28.
Analysts recalled that the IAEA assembled a mission consisting of the head of the organization, Rafael Mariano Grossi, and 13 experts from “mostly neutral countries” to visit the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant next week.
The list specifically excludes the US and the UK, which Russia considers biased.
The IAEA said active consultations are ongoing regarding the upcoming mission.
“Manipulating the citizenship of inspectors and attacking the ‘fairness’ of IAEA inspections is a tactic Iran has long used to cover up obstacles to inspections,” ISW said.
It was previously reported that the Russian special services were pressuring employees of the occupied ZNPP so that they would not tell IAEA inspectors anything about security risks at the plant.
