A man was injured on Tuesday Mass shooting on the New York subway She may have helped the expectant mother survive the victims.
Hourari Benkada, “Anderson Cooper 360” released on CNN On Tuesday night, from a hospital bed, host John Berman recounted the frightening moments during the rush of the day on the Brooklyn subway.
Benkada, like many New Yorkers, said he ignored those around him when a “black smoke bomb” exploded and passengers began “running back” from the train carriage.
His first instinct was to approach a woman sitting next to him, who noticed that he “had a stomach.”
“This pregnant woman is in front of me. I tried to help him. “At first I didn’t know there were hunts,” he said. “I thought it was a black smoke bomb.”
“She said: ‘I’m pregnant with a baby.’ I hugged him and then the hype continued, ”he said.
Benkada said he was responding to instinct when the woman said, “My God, I’m pregnant!”
“I just focused on being pregnant and that’s where I kicked her foot. “I’ll just work,” he said.
A gunman was sitting next to Benkada, he said.
“The boy was next to me, but I couldn’t see his face,” Benkada said, noting that the killer was wearing a mask.
Suspect Frank R. James was arrested Wednesday in Manhattan’s East Village during an extensive police search.
Ten people were killed in the shooting and more than a dozen were injured in the riots. The cause of the attack is unknown.
Benkada told CNN that he was in “severe pain” and could not bear it. He said he was shocked at first and didn’t know his injury was serious until he got off the subway and noticed a “fourth degree wound that was just bleeding.”
He said several times in the interview that he no longer wanted to take the subway.
As for the pregnant woman, Benkada told Berman that she thinks she was able to get off the train safely.
