Russian-speaking Ukrainians were given some tips on how to overcome the consequences of Russification and start communicating in Ukrainian.
Language Ombudsman Taras Kremen gave recommendations on how Russian speakers could switch from Ukrainian to Ukrainian. They were published on Wednesday, April 13, by the press service of the commissioner for the protection of the state language.

-
chat with native Ukrainian speakers to learn new words and practice pronunciation, read stories of people who have already done so;
-
always speak Ukrainian in a shop, taxi, cafe, demanding your right to receive information and services in the state language;
-
turn on Ukrainian on all electronic devices and in program settings, write in Ukrainian on social networks;
-
use Ukrainian-language version of sites, search Ukrainian in search engines;
-

“Don’t be afraid to speak, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, don’t be afraid to look in the dictionary! Our language has been banned for centuries, denigrated, devalued … We are still facing the consequences of Russification. But now is the time when everyone should ask themselves the question: who am I? Respecting Ukraine and being Ukrainian is speaking in one’s own language, “Kremen wrote, adding that where there is a Ukrainian language, the enemy has no opportunity.
Earlier, Kremin announced the need to rename some cities. We are talking about communities with Russian roots in their names. It is Arbuzinka, Severodonetsk, Yuzhnoukrainsk, Yuzhne, Pervomaisk and many others.
Recall that according to the latest opinion polls, 83% of Ukrainians are in favor that Ukrainian is the only state language in the country.
