The Pentagon has published a list of weapons that will be included in Ukraine’s largest military aid package to date, worth about $3 billion. USA.
The new package includes:
- six NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems with ammunition;
- up to 245 thousand shells for 155-mm artillery ammunition;
- up to 65 thousand shells for 120 mm mortars;
- up to 24 anti-artillery radars;
- Puma unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and ancillary equipment for UAS Scan Eagle systems;
- unmanned aerial systems VAMPIRE;
- missile systems with laser guidance;
- financing of training, maintenance and support of equipment.
The Pentagon notes that this military aid package will be provided as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI).
Unlike the presidential cut (PDA), which the Pentagon continues to use to deliver equipment to Ukraine from its stockpiles at a historic pace, USAI is a program under which the United States buys opportunities in industry, the Pentagon notes.
This announcement is the beginning of a contracting process to provide additional priority capabilities to Ukraine in the medium to long term so that Ukraine can continue to defend itself as an independent, sovereign and successful state, the US defense department added.
