It is noted that if the bank cannot take money, because of the conflict or their threat, it must deliberately damage the banknotes (bring them into default). In particular, banknotes can: drill, cut off at least 50% of the banknote area, cut in half or damage the paint.
Now there is a threat of such banknotes entering the cash circulation as a result of their theft by raiders or looters from seized bank branches.
“So we ask both businesses and citizens to be careful. Such banknotes – colored, cut or with holes – do not have to be accepted during cash payments,” the NBU stressed.
They note that it is necessary to reject such banknotes and ask for new ones, because they are no longer a means of payment.
It is also necessary to warn the National Police of Ukraine about those who distribute such banknotes in order to stop the actions of malefactors.
Earlier it was reported that the NBU has postponed the transition to a new system of electronic payments.
