The Russian army brought additional military equipment to the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP.
According to the Ukrainian energy company Energoatom, on August 22, two armored personnel carriers and six trucks were delivered to the nuclear power plant.
In total, more than 40 units of military equipment are now deployed on the territory of the station. There are 16 military vehicles near the first power unit, and seven near the second. The occupiers drove 12 more pieces of equipment under the overpass, the company said in a statement.
In addition, new Russian military personnel arrived at the station. According to Energoatom, some of them wear masks.
“Rakurs” reported that Russian war criminals invited an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on August 23 “on the situation around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.”
Russia can arrange a provocation with a fire at the ZNPP. This was announced on August 22 by the coordinator of the public movement “Common Cause” Oleksandr Danilyuk, citing Ukrainian intelligence sources.
To do this, a large amount of automotive fuel was placed on the territory of the station. In preparation for a provocation, the direction of additional units of the RCBZ to the station is indicated.
As of 08:00 on August 22, 2022, Zaporozhye NPP operates with the risk of violating radiation and fire safety standards. Periodic shelling of the Zaporizhzhya NPP by Russian troops from the MLRS entailed a serious risk for the safe operation of the plant, Energoatom said in a statement.
The department recalled that on August 5, as a result of an attack by the Russian military on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, emergency protection worked at one of the power units – and one of the three operating power units is now off. During the shelling, the nitrogen-oxygen station was seriously damaged, and the auxiliary building was united. There are still risks of hydrogen leakage and dispersion of radioactive substances, and the fire hazard is also high.
On August 6, due to the shelling by the invaders of ZNPP, three radiation monitoring sensors around the site of the ZNPP storage facilities were damaged.
On August 11, the invaders fired at the fire station located outside the ZNPP territory and designed to protect it from fires and extinguish them in case of emergencies at the plant. On August 13, an open switchgear 750 kV (VRP-750) was also damaged.
And on August 20, as a result of shelling, one of the transitional galleries was damaged, through which personnel go from special buildings to power units (overpass), windows were broken in the building.
