A video posted on Facebook shows the operators of a motorized infantry brigade launching missiles from Igla MANPADS.
One of the frames shows the launch of a missile that hit a Russian Su-25. The video also contains footage confirming the downing of the attack aircraft.
On March 4, 2022, in the battles for Chernihiv on the outskirts of the city, using the 1985 Igla-1 MANPADS, Captain of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergey Chizhikov shot down the latest Russian fourth-generation multi-purpose super-maneuverable fighter Su-35 (cost 40-65 million dollars).
In early July, the 101st General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine named after Colonel General Gennady Vorobyov distributed a photo of a downed cruise missile. The military claimed that the calculation with the Igla MANPADS was able to shoot down a Russian X-22 missile flying to Kyiv.
The needle is in service with the army of Ukraine, the CIS countries, and since 1994 it has been exported to more than 30 countries, in particular to Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vietnam, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Poland, Germany, Finland; India, Iraq, Malaysia, Singapore, Syria, South Korea, Brazil and Mexico.
