German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the IRIS-T air defense systems and the COBRA counter-battery radar will soon be in Ukraine.
He added that Germany would continue to supply Ukraine with “what it needs for defense,” according to DW.
With the help of IRIS-T SLM, you can repel attacks by combat aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, rocket artillery, drones, anti-radar missiles and aerial bombs. These systems are capable of effectively hitting air targets in a zone with a radius of 40 km and a height of 20 km.
IRIS-T SLM is a Diehl Defense ground-based air defense system based on the MAN SX 45 (8 × 8) chassis with modified IRIS-T short-range air-to-air missiles with an infrared homing head, equipped with a more powerful engine.
IRIS-T SLM is a development of the German company Diehl Defense, which differs from its analogues in its vertical launch, which eliminates the creation of a “dead zone” that appears above the complex with missile launches at an angle. It also reduces the launch time when the target comes from an unexpected direction, because there is no need to turn the launcher around.
