Konashenkov said that the artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly planned to strike the territory of the ZNPP from firing positions.
Ukraine is allegedly preparing a “resonant provocation” at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant against the background of the visit of UN Secretary General António Guterres. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Igor Konashenkov.
“On August 19, the Kyiv regime is preparing a resounding provocation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant during a visit to Ukraine by UN Secretary General António Guterres, as a result of which the Russian Federation will be accused of creating a man-made disaster in this power plant,” he said.
According to Konashenkov, the artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly planned to strike the territory of the ZNPP from firing positions located in Nikopol. At the same time, the units of the 704th regiment of the RCBZ troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are allegedly preparing to concentrate in the ZNPP area in order “to be ready to fix the fact of the accident at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, as well as to carry out a set of measures to demonstrate the supposed elimination of its consequences.”
Also, a representative of the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian heavy weapons were allegedly not located on the territory of the ZNPP or in the areas adjacent to it.
It will be remembered, the Secretary General of the UN António Guterres is planning another visit to Ukraine. During the visit, among other issues, the decommissioning of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant will be discussed.
It is also reported that the Russian occupiers are continuing the militarization of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
