Each educational institution will determine the duration and structure of the school year, the duration of the school week and school day, the time of classes and breaks.
The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Serhiy Shkarlet, in a conference call on the readiness of educational institutions for the new academic year under martial law, spoke about the structure of the educational process in schools. Many issues in the new academic year will be determined not by the educational authorities, but by each educational institution. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science.
“In accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On the beginning of the academic year during the legal regime of martial law in Ukraine”, the educational process in the academic year 2022/2023 will begin on September 1 on the Day of Knowledge and will last until June 30, 2023,” the minister said.
According to Shkarlet, the 2022-2023 school year could last more or less than 175 days. Appropriate changes have been made to the law. Each educational institution will determine the length and structure of the school year, the length of the school week (five or six days) and the school day, the time of classes and breaks.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education spoke about the format of the new academic year. An option is considered, where part of the disciplines will be taught in full-time mode, and part – in an online format.
It was also reported that only 23% of Ukrainian schools are ready for full-time education.
In some cities of the country, especially in Kharkiv, the first bell holiday is not held, and the academic year begins only in a remote format.
