The US Air Force launched a Minuteman III ICBM from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. This was announced on August 16 by the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC).
It was noted that the test launch was part of periodic measures aimed at demonstrating the safety, reliability and effectiveness of US nuclear forces.
Similar tests have been conducted more than 300 times and the current one is “not related to current world events,” the AFGSC stressed.
The launch was carried out on Tuesday at 11.49 am Kyiv time. The rocket flew about 6,750 km over Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean.
The missile is not equipped with a nuclear warhead.
It was previously reported that American B-1B Lancer bombers carried out attacks on the Russian fleet in the Black and Baltic Seas using LRASM long-range anti-ship missiles.
