Aircraft of the Russian Federation are prohibited from landing at the airports of cities located near Ukraine.
The Federal Air Transport Agency of the Russian Federation (Rosaviatsia) has extended the flight restriction regime at some airports in southern and central Russia until August 23. The agency’s website reported this on Tuesday, August 16.
“The temporary flight restriction regime at 11 Russian airports has been extended until August 23, 2022, 03:45 Moscow time,” the statement said.
Aircraft are temporarily not flying to Russian-occupied Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Elista and Simferopol.
The Federal Air Transport Agency recommends airlines as alternatives – the airports of Sochi, Volgograd, Mineralnye Vody and Stavropol.
It should be noted that flights to the southern regions of Russia have been limited since February 24 after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The European Commission has blacklisted 21 Russian airlines, of which the largest are Aeroflot, Russia, Pobeda, UTair, S7. Since then, they have focused on domestic flights, using actual stolen leased aircraft for this.
