The so-called “dialogue” policemen will work at the demolition site, talking to people in Estonian and in Russian.

On Tuesday, August 16, the Estonian government decided to move the Soviet monuments in Narva and Narva-Jõesuu. This was reported by the Estonian edition of ERR.

Preparations for dismantling the tank monument have already begun, and other monuments in the region are being relocated.

It was reported that during the demolition of the monuments, the police imposed a curfew near the monuments, closed roads for vehicles and pedestrians – for safety reasons.

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said in a rare press conference that after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Soviet military monuments in Estonia’s public space are no longer just a local problem.

“We will not give Russia the opportunity to use the past to destroy Estonia’s inner world,” he said.

The so-called “dialogue” police officers will work at the dismantling site, talking to people in Estonian and in Russian, explaining the situation to prevent hooligan actions.

Earlier it was reported that Estonia dismantled all monuments from the times of the USSR.

Remember that in the capital of Finland they dismantled the monument received as a gift from the USSR in 1989, the monument of World Peace.
