After visiting the United States, the head of the diplomatic department had to return to the country via Poland.
On the first day of the Russian Federation’s massive invasion of Ukraine, the Polish authorities in Ukraine promised to support it until the end of the war. On Monday, August 15, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba spoke about this in an interview with Dmitry Gordon.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry recalled that on the evening of February 24, he flew from the United States of America to Istanbul.
“And then I saw the news that in Borispol the plane was flying – it turned around and parked back. And I understood everything. And I immediately wrote a message to the assistant that I had to cancel the tickets Istanbul – Kyiv in Istanbul – Warsaw,” recalls Kuleba.
Already at the Warsaw airport, Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Andriy Deshchitsa said that Polish President Andrzej Duda wanted to receive him.
“I went to their National Security Council. Closed, encapsulated room. There was President Duda, Yaroslav Kachinsky, all the military, there was already a map – everything. And they said: “Look. We will accompany you as long as you fight,” the minister recalled.
On the evening of February 25, Kuleba returned to the country.
It should be noted that September and October could be a turning point in the war between Ukraine and Russia. This forecast was voiced by the head of Poland’s National Security Bureau, Pavel Solokh.
