The “most active” continues to be the Western Balkan route, through which Afghans, Turks and Syrians arrive in Europe.
In the first seven months of 2022, the number of migrants in the European Union increased by 86% compared to the same period last year. This was announced on August 12 by the European border agency Frontex.
According to him, from January to July, 155,090 migrants arrived in the EU. However, last month alone, the number of asylum seekers increased by 63% year-on-year to 34,570.
It was noted that the “most active” route continues to be the Western Balkans route, where about 15,000 illegal migrants entered the region in a month, which is almost three times higher than in July last year. We are mainly talking about immigrants from Syria, Afghanistan and Turkey.
The agency emphasized that these statistics do not include refugees from Ukraine, where 7.7 million people have left for Europe since the end of February.
Recall that in June Poland completed the construction of a “wall” on a 140-kilometer section of the border with Belarus.
