Canada will continue to monitor the situation in Ukraine and explore options for new responses to Russia’s actions.
Canada has imposed new sanctions on 33 Russian defense companies that have provided indirect or direct support to the Russian army and are therefore “accomplices to the pain and suffering associated with Vladimir Putin’s senseless war in Ukraine.” It was reported on the Canadian government website.
“Canada has always supported and always will support Ukraine. Today’s steps are the latest example of our unwavering support for Ukraine and its people,” said Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly.
It also states that Canada will continue to monitor the situation, liaise with its international partners and explore options for new responses to Russia’s actions.
In addition, the press release says that Canada “will be the leader” in bringing Russian President Vladimir Putin and his accomplices to justice for the war in Ukraine.
Canada will increase financial support for Ukraine
Earlier, US President Joe Biden approved two laws on sanctions against Russia. He enforced a ban on Russia’s oil and gas purchases. The sanctions also affected Belarus.
