EU entry bans for citizens of the Russian Federation are fair, and Europeans should insist on them, the Ukrainian head of state emphasized.
After all that Russia has done in Ukraine, Russia can only be considered a terrorist country. From this point of view, the attitude towards the Russians should also be determined, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message on Friday, August 12.

The head of state expressed his gratitude to the Czech Republic, the Baltic countries and other states that raised the issue of visa restrictions for Russian citizens.
“Of course, we all understand: there are people who really need protection, who are persecuted in Russia, they can even be killed, which means they should receive help from the civilized world. These are well-known legal mechanisms – through the refugee , through an asylum request, through other opportunities of help and support. But this is for those who are fighting, for those who are persecuted. And this should not concern the entertainment of the Russian people in Europe, tourism, entertainment, business affairs. You cannot work for a terrorist state,” Zelensky said.
At the same time, he emphasized that there should be a guarantee that “Russian murderers and accomplices of state terrorism will not use Schengen” and that Europe will not become “a supermarket where it does not matter who enters – the main thing is that a person only pays for the goods.”
Visa restrictions for citizens of the Russian Federation are fair and all defenders of European values should insist on them, the Ukrainian leader summed up.
As reported, from August 18, Estonia will no longer allow Russian citizens to enter the country, to whom it previously issued Schengen visas.
At the same time, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he does not support the idea of a general ban on the entry of Russians into the European Union.
