Sumy region is the most mined region of Ukraine after the Russian de-occupation.
More than 47% of the region’s territory was mined by the invaders. And in general, Russian soldiers mined a large amount of land. On August 11, Minister of the Interior Denis Monastyrsky announced this on the air of the national telethon.
Unfortunately, a lot of the territory is now mined. The Sumy region, probably the most of the de-occupied territories, remains mined. More than 47% of the territory of the Sumy region was mined, – he said.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added that as of August 11, due to the large wooded area, there are mined “islands” that cannot be entered. Russian mines and shells have covered a 20-kilometer distance from the state border. Rescuers and sappers are now unable to get there.
Recall that on July 29, in the Akhtyrsky district of the Sumy region, people exploded on Russian mines. In Velikopisarevskaya community, 11 mines were detonated when they were hit by a truck, the driver of which died on the spot. During the explosion, a passenger car was driving along the oncoming lane of the road, the driver and passenger were injured.
Also, a combine ran over a mine, which left for the field to harvest. Then two farmers were injured.
