A number of political and military officials in the Russian Federation are still holding on to their posts to prevent the Kremlin from being discredited, said Alexei Gromov.
The Minister of Defense of Russia Sergei Shoigu and the Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov remain only formally in their positions. The Kremlin needs them to avoid discrediting Russia’s top military and political leadership. This was announced by the Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff Alexei Gromov in a briefing on Thursday, August 11.
Repressive measures among the top Russian military and officials due to the failure of strategic plans for Ukraine continue, he said.
“According to reports, Sergei Shoigu and Valery Gerasimov only remained in their positions to avoid discrediting the top military-political leadership of the Russian Federation. About 30-40% of generals and officers took part in planning the war against in Ukraine have been removed from their duties and are under investigation,” he said.
According to him, new personnel decisions are expected regarding the leadership of the Russian army, taking into account the explosions at the airfields in Saki and Zyabrovka.
Remember, he said in a conference call on August 2 that the work in the Donetsk region is “going according to plan.”
In addition, Shoigu ordered the commander of the Russian Vostok group of forces in Ukraine to try to find remote systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that effectively destroy Russian weapons and ammunition depots.
