Switzerland cannot represent the interests of Ukraine – Russian Foreign Ministry

Bern has reportedly lost its neutrality, so it cannot act as a mediator, according to the Russian department.

Switzerland has lost its neutral status and now “cannot represent Ukraine’s interests in Russia.” This is what the Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ivan Nechaev, said, the Russian pro-government news agency TASS reported on Thursday, August 11.

“We clearly answered that Switzerland, unfortunately, has lost the status of a neutral state and cannot act as a mediator or as a representative of interests,” he said.

Note that diplomatic relations between Russia and Ukraine were severed after the outbreak of hostilities.

Today, Swiss diplomats as mediators represent the interests of Georgia in Russia and vice versa, as well as the interests of the United States in Iran.

Recall that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that Kyiv agreed with Switzerland on the representation of Ukrainian interests in Russia.

In addition, Switzerland introduced the seventh package of sanctions against Russia, banning the import of Russian gold.
