British authorities will transfer to Ukraine three more MLRS M270 multiple launch rocket systems and a “significant number” of missiles for them. This was stated by the Secretary of Defense of the United Kingdom, Ben Wallace, in a BBC commentary released on Wednesday, August 10.
He noted that in this way the number of MLRS “similar to HIMARS systems” in service with Ukrainian troops will double.
“Our continued support sends a very clear message: Britain and the international community remain against this illegal war and stand by providing military defense assistance to Ukraine to help it defend against Putin’s aggression, ” said the defense chief.
At the same time, the minister noted that the UK is “pleased” with how Ukraine is using the rocket launchers provided earlier. According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have shown that they know well which targets to hit so as not to run out of ammunition quickly.
Finally, Wallace said that the Ukrainian army began to switch from Soviet weapons to NATO weapons.
Remember, on June 6, Britain announced the provision of Ukraine with the M270 MLRS, which can hit targets at a distance of up to 80 kilometers. The first systems were delivered on 15 July.
