EU ministers will consider the possibility of restricting the visa regime for Russian citizens at the end of August.
The European Union will consider the issue of banning the issuance of Schengen visas to Russians at the end of August. About that know RFE/RL correspondent in Brussels Rikard Jozwiak on Twitter on Wednesday 10 August.
He noted that EU ministers will discuss the ban on issuing visas to Russian citizens at a meeting in Prague, which will be held at the end of this month. According to him, there is a possibility that EU countries will not agree.
“At this point, it is unlikely that the EU as a whole will collectively agree to stop issuing tourist visas to Russians, but, as is the case with many EU sanctions against Russia this year, “any possible,” he concluded.
The European Commission is ready to discuss proposals for additional sanctions against the Russian Federation. However, it is too early to comment on the possible termination of the issuance of tourist visas to Russians.
Recall that the Latvian government has decided to suspend the issuance of any type of visa to Russian citizens.
In addition, Finland also plans to introduce new restrictions on the issuance of tourist visas for Russian citizens.
