Lufthansa will not fly to Russia until spring

Before the start of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine, Lusthansa operated about 30 flights to Russian destinations.

German airline Lufthansa has extended a ban on using Russian airspace for its flights until March 25, 2023 due to the war in Ukraine. it was announced on Tuesday, August 9, on the company’s website.

The company clarified that all Lufthansa flights to and from Russia have been canceled for the time being due to the “current regulatory situation”.

The flight ban applies not only to Lufthatsa, but to all subsidiaries of the Lufthansa Group, including Eurowings and Austrian Airlines and Swiss International Airlines.

Lufthansa imposed a ban on flights through Russian airspace in February, after Russia invaded Ukraine. Since then, the company has repeatedly extended the ban. The previously introduced restriction is in effect until July 31.

Lufthansa also noted that flights to and from Ukraine until March 25, 2023 inclusive are suspended, as the airspace in Ukraine is closed due to the war.

It will be remembered that the UAE airline Wizz Air Abu Dhabi from October resumes flights between Abu Dhabi and Moscow.
