On the site of the demolished monument, a monument can be erected in memory of the victims of the Nazi or Soviet totalitarian regimes.

In the city of Malbork (Poland) on Tuesday, August 9, by the direction of the Institute of National Remembrance, a monument to the Red Army of the USSR, built in 1945, was demolished. This was reported by Nasze Miasto.

It was noted that after the beginning of the mass invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, local residents spoke in favor of the demolition of the Soviet monument, but the process was delayed by the fact that it was included in the register of the voivodship, so it could only be -liquidate by decision of the voivodeship authorities.

“You can talk about a historical moment, because it was the end of the decommunization of Malbork. In 1989, this process was natural, but this monument is evidence that it was not finished. There should be no place for those symbol of Russian or Soviet imperialism in the public space of Poland “, – said Deputy Minister of State Assets of Poland Karol Rabenda.

He noted that the decision on what exactly to build on the site of the Soviet monument will be made by the Malbork community together with the Institute of National Remembrance. Perhaps, we will talk about the monument in memory of the victims of the Nazi or Soviet totalitarian regimes.

Remember that in the capital of Finland they dismantled the monument received as a gift from the USSR in 1989, the monument of World Peace.

It has also been reported that Estonia is dismantling all monuments from the USSR era.
