Ukraine has received 16 American HIMARS missile systems and intends to ensure an uninterrupted supply of ammunition for them.
Ukraine does not need to provide hundreds of HIMARS systems, it is necessary to ensure a constant supply of ammunition for them. This is what the Deputy head of the Pentagon, Colin Kahl, said.

“We’ve sent 16 HIMARS systems, which is really a lot. Again, these are not systems that we estimate would need hundreds to have that effect. These are precision guidance systems for specific types of targets, and the Ukrainians use them as such,” he said.
The Pentagon spokesman recalled that the Netherlands and Germany promised to provide Ukraine with three systems similar to HIMARS – M270 and MARS II.
Kahl confirmed that the new US military aid package will deliver GMLRS precision-guided munitions for HIMARS, which hit targets at a distance of 70 km. With their help, the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit command and control centers, supply and logistics centers, and key radar systems.
He noted that the HIMARS pinpoint strike forced the Russian Federation to move its rear inland.
“In our assessment, the Ukrainians are doing a good job with the number of systems, and in fact the priority now is to ensure a continuous flow of these GMLRS. The same goes for the M777 howitzers, where we have actually delivered a very large number of systems. As allies and partners, the priority now is to provide ammunition to the Ukrainians so they can continue the fight,” Kahl added.
It will be remembered that the new package of American military aid announced the previous day includes tens of thousands of ammunition for HIMARS, Javelin anti-tank missile system, mortar system and other weapons.
