In the industrial zone of Matanzas in western Cuba, two explosions rocked the territory of an oil depot. Preliminarily, one person died, another 121 were injured. On the evening of Sunday, August 7, Reuters reports.
As indicated, on Friday, one of the eight tanks with “black gold” was struck by lightning, as a result of which it exploded. A few hours later, when rescue services were already working in the area, another explosion thundered.
According to Cuban authorities, among the victims 36 people were hospitalized, five in critical condition. In addition, 17 firefighters are missing. More than a thousand civilians were evacuated from the area.
The fire at the emergency site has been raging for a second day. According to the latest information, the heat from the fire has reached the second reservoir, and the wind has blown the fire dangerously close to the third.
Recall that on June 18, Russian troops destroyed an oil depot in the Dnipropetrovsk region with three missiles.
A massive fire broke out in the area, and on the morning of June 19, a fuel tank exploded, killing one rescue worker and injuring two others.
It was later learned about two more victims of the attack.
