In Europe and the United States, work is underway on bills that would expand the possibility of confiscation of Russian assets for Ukraine. This was announced on Friday, August 5, in his evening speech by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“All our partners are actively working here. And Donbass was burned by Russian strikes, the threat of the invaders in Kharkiv and Nikolaev, the shelling of Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhitomiska region and others other regions – this is Russia will definitely pay for the political, financial and our own future, which is lost with every blow against us,” said the head of state.
The President said that today he held a meeting on the policy of sanctions, the confiscation of Russian assets.
“As the officials reported, property worth 28 billion hryvnias was forcibly taken from Ukraine. This work continues. More than 900 more objects belonging specifically to the Russian state have been proposed to confiscate. And if we analyze the property package not only of the terrorist state, but also of its residents, then we are talking about 36,000 positions for confiscation. All of this will be used to compensate for the losses caused by Russia in war and terrorism,” Zelensky emphasized.
Recall that the government of Ukraine approved a draft presidential decree on the confiscation of 903 objects belonging to the Russian Federation.
