Bulk carriers NAVI STAR, ROJEN and POLARNET with a cargo of maize are bound for Turkey, UK and Ireland.
On the morning of August 5, the first caravan of ships with Ukrainian grain left Ukrainian ports. This was announced on Facebook by the Minister of Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov.
He clarified that the three bulk carriers NAVI STAR, ROJEN and POLARNET are carrying 57,000 tons of corn, which are being sent to Turkey, Great Britain and Ireland.
“The caravan has now restored navigation from the harbor Chernomorsk. We hope that the security guarantees of our partners from the UN and Turkey will continue to work, and that food exports from our ports will be stable and predictable for all market participants,” the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure emphasized.
Kubrakov noted that Ukraine plans to ensure the ports’ ability to handle more than 100 ships per month.
“Although the “grain corridor” has already begun to operate, our goal is the full operation of the ports in both directions. We have received applications from ship owners who are willing to enter our ports for loading and the first event is expected tomorrow. Our goal is three or more million tons of agricultural products exported monthly from the ports Odessa, Chernomorsk and South“, said the minister.
He also added that the export of 20 million tons of produce last year will accelerate the export of new ones and improve the food situation in the world.
It will be recalled that on July 22, an agreement was signed in Istanbul on the launch of a “grain corridor” from Ukraine.
The first ship to leave Odessa as part of the agreement was the dry cargo ship RAZONI with 26,000 tons of Ukrainian corn. On Monday, August 1, the ship left for Lebanon.
