The alliance aims to prevent the conflict from escalating into a full-scale war between NATO and Russia.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Europe is going through the most dangerous situation since the Second World War.
“In this conflict (Russia’s war against Ukraine – ed.), NATO has two tasks: to support Ukraine and prevent the conflict from escalating into a full-scale war between NATO and Russia,” he said.
According to Stoltenberg, it is in the interests of the Alliance that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not succeed in his ambitions in Ukraine.
“A world where the lesson for Putin is that he gets what he wants with military force is a much more dangerous world for us. If Russia wins this war, there will be confirmation that violence works and its next target may be Ukraine’s other neighbors,” said the NATO Secretary General.
Earlier, the former NATO commander estimated the possibility of a nuclear strike on Ukraine. James Stavridis believes that the concern that Putin will use weapons of mass destruction is justified, but they are likely to be chemical, not nuclear.
Recall that Ukraine has become a member of the cooperation program between the armies of NATO countries.
