Ukrainian intelligence has established some circumstances of the deliberate murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the colony in Olenivka (Donetsk region), in which Ukrainian prisoners of war were kept, including from the Azov regiment.
On August 3, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported that the interrogations of the prisoners were carried out by investigators of the so-called “MDB DPR” together with representatives of the Wagner PPK and the FSB of the Russian Federation.
During interrogations, physical torture and beatings were actively used.
Such measures, first of all, were aimed not at obtaining certain confidential information, but at bullying, physical humiliation, psychological demoralization in order to break the moral and psychological qualities of Ukrainian soldiers, the report says.
If the Ukrainian soldiers spoke up, the FSB representatives planned to involve Ukrainian captives in the filming of pro-Russian TV reports. During the broadcasts, the prisoners would have admitted the “crimes, atrocities against the local population” allegedly committed by them. The Russian Nazis put pressure on the “Azovites” to renounce their views and allegedly condemn the leadership of Ukraine.
The GUR reported that the interrogations were carried out on a regular basis, but were not successful. Ukrainian prisoners showed exceptional courage and invincible willpower.
At the same time, the Russians were not going to exchange prisoners of war. Their destruction took place in order to hide the improper conditions and forms of interrogation (this could serve as an evidence base in the Hague court).
The mining of the place of detention of Ukrainian fighters in Olenivka was carried out by militants of the Wagner PPK. They used a flammable substance, which led to the rapid spread of fire in the room and the death of more than 50 “Azov”.
Ukraine has not yet received official lists of the dead prisoners of war in Olenivka.
