Moldovan Agriculture Minister Vladimir Bolea said the country will introduce a state of environmental emergency due to the drought. This was reported by Newsmaker.
He noted that the drought is creating an emergency situation for agriculture and the introduction of such a regime will make it easier for farmers to get water from lakes.
According to the minister, today the water level in the Dniester is 30-40% of the average monthly long-term indicators (yellow code), in the Prut – 15-30% (orange code), in a number of small rivers – 10-20%, and in individual small rivers – up to 10% of the monthly multi-year average (red code)
The ground water level, on which water depends on artesian wells, has also dropped.

Remember, as stated in the report of the joint research center of the European Commission for July 2022, in the European Union, 46% of the territory is at risk of drought, and 11% is already experiencing a lack of soil moisture.
