Russia guarantees security – as Hungarian’s Prime Minister explained why his country could not abandon Russian gas.
Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban has once again said his country does not intend to leave Russia’s oil and gas, emphasizing that agreements for energy sources in Russia under long -term contracts remain the most reliable choice. He is sure that the gap of such agreements will have negative consequences and will lead to increased tariffs for Hungarian families. He said this, speaking on Monday, September 29th, on the program Time of warriors.
Orban announced two main reasons why Hungary was not prepared to agree with Russia’s gas.
The first reason is the energy security that the country sees in collaboration with the Russian Federation. Orban noted that any alternative sources of energy currently do not match the level of reliability provided by the current agreements with Russia.
“Any other supply source is less reliable than the Russian recorded by long -term contracts. Thus, Russia guarantees Hungary safety,” the prime minister said.
Viktor Orban’s second argument remembers the economic and social aspects. According to him, Russia’s energy sources are noticeably cheaper than other alternatives, and their rejection inevitably leads to an increase of tariffs for Hungarian citizens.
He posted a rhetorical question: Why should Hungarian families pay more for energy sources? According to the politician, it is not only economic, but also a social problem about justice.
Orban also emphasized that Hungary remains an independent state that is independently referring to energy policy, not surrendering to external pressure.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister and his Slovak colleague Viktor Orban and Robert Fitzo were categories that their countries could not deny Russian oil supply for oil pipeline, as it contradicted technical and economic facts.
It is also reported that Hungary and Slovakia have disappeared for the exclusion of six Russians from the EU penalty list. One of these factors is “informal pressure” in Budapest and Bratislava from the USA.
