Ukraine may receive Swedish fighters. Deputy Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Ivan Gavrilyuk said in an interview with the BBC, published Monday, September 29th.
He said additional supplies of F-16 aircraft were expected, as well as the French mirage and the Swedish gripen. But he did not make it clear when they were coming and what volume.
“Let’s go, when you see them in the air in Ukraine, you understand,” Gavrilyuk said.
In clarifying the question of which planes are “expected” -Mirage, GriPen, F -16 or just one of them, Gavrilyuk replied: “In practice, you call the nomenclature correctly, but in detail when, what, I’m not,”
As you know, on August 19, 2024, President Vladimir Zelensky visited Sweden. He said Ukrainian pilots have begun participating in the opening training at JAS 39 GriPen and expressed a desire for Ukraine to have such aircraft.
