Tehran does not recognize attempts to expand or resume penalties adopted by the UN Security Council.
Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Arakchi called on the UN general to cancel the continuation of mechanisms for implementing sanctions against Tehran. Al Arabiya reported it.
Arakchi emphasized that Iran does not recognize attempts to expand or resume penalties adopted by the UN Security Council. Separately, he urged the resurrection of the work of the Committee on Sanctions and the specialized groups that monitors the adherence to restrictions.
“We encourage you to avoid any attempts to survive the mechanisms of penalties, including the work of the committee on sanctions and the specialized group,” the head of the Iranian department.
In addition, he called the re -application of canceled resolutions “legal irrational and unfair.” Arakchi also urged all countries to refrain from recognizing such a decision.
Remember, the UN Security Council on Friday, September 19, resumed restrictions against Iran, which acted before the 2015 nuclear transaction, refusing the proposal to expand the regime’s softening. Only four countries voted for the expansion of penalties – Russia, China, Algeria and Pakistan.
The US Department of Finance on July 30 this year has announced the largest penalties against Iran since 2018.
Earlier it was reported that the United States had increased pressure on Russian and Iran’s accomplices for the prevention of penalties.
